Logitech QuickCall USB VOIP Speakerphone under LinuxThe QuickCall USB Speakerphone is is a rather neat USB Audio speakerphone gadget (now end-of-life). Unfortunately Logitech only supplies Windows drivers. However, it's almost a standard USB Audio Class device, so with a few tweaks I've managed to get it working under Linux. I haven't yet neatly packaged my support. For now you can download this Python script. To run the script you'll need the Python libusb bindings installed. Under Ubuntu those can be found in the python-usb package. Run the script as root to initialize the Quickcall. You should then be able to change the microphone and speaker volumes (with gnome-volume-control or whatever) - in particular changing the microphone from the zero volume it starts at. Once that's done you should be able to point Skype, Ekiga or whatever at the speakerphone and have it work. This won't have any of the buttons or LEDs on the device doing anything useful. I do know how to access the buttons and LEDs, and I'm working on a "quickcalld" which will handle the buttons and LEDs and do something useful with them, but it's not quite up to a usable state yet. There are two mailing lists related to the quickcall support.
